Netflix has released a new 2-minute trailer for the upcoming The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep animated film, previewing the main character, Geralt of Rivia, engaging in a dangerous battle with a tentacled sea monster. The film will begin streaming on Netflix on February 11, 2025.
The film is directed by Kang Hei Chul (Lookism director for episodes 1, 4, and 7), with a screenplay written by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin. Studio Mir is handling the main animation production, with Platige Image providing 3DCG assistance and Hivemind also assisting with the production.
Doug Cockle reprises his role as the voice of Geralt of Rivia in the film. Cockle previously voiced Geralt in the video game series, marking his return to the franchise since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. He is joined by other voice cast members that include Joey Batey (reprising his role from the live-action TV series) as Jaskier, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Christina Wren as Essi Daven.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is based on the short story “A Little Sacrifice” by The Witcher series author Andrzej Sapkowski. The short story compiled in the collection Sword of Destiny. The original fantasy book series by Sapkowski was first published in 1990 and has released nine novels and 15 short stories.
The franchise has inspired several media adaptations, including a long-running video game series by CD Projekt Red, a live-action Netflix series, comics, board games, card games, tabletop RPGs, and more.
Synopsis:
Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter, is hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside village and finds himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople. He must count on friends old and new to solve the mystery before the hostilities between the two kingdoms escalate into all-out war.
