Make A Girl Spotlights Eve in New Trailer

Make A Girl Spotlights Eve in New Trailer

A new PV trailer has been released in celebration of the premiere for Make A Girl, which began screening in Japanese theaters on January 31, 2025. The trailer highlights the film’s main theme song “Kasei” by Japanese rock band Eve.

Make A Girl is an original project of director Gensho Yasuda and is based on his 2020 anime short Make Love, which was produced by the Blender open source 3DCG software tool. It received a world premiere on the Global Stage Hollywood at the TCL Chinese Theater last November.

Yasuda is credited as the film’s director, screenwriter, storyboard artist, unit director, and CG director. Kenichiro Suehiro (Re: Zero, Undead Unluck) is serving as the music composer, with Gensho Yasuda Studio by Xenotoon in charge of the animation production.

A crowdfunding campaign for the anime film with a 10 million yen target ran from August 2022 to October 2022 and raised 23,730,805 yen (US$152,421). Another crowdfunding campaign was organized for increased quality and completion purposes, and ran from September to October 2023, amassing 23,176,413 yen in total.

Synopsis:

The story takes place in the near future: Akira Mizutamari, a scientific genius who succeeded in developing and commercializing SALT, a robot that supports people’s lives, finds himself stuck in a rut when all of his new inventions fail. After hearing from a friend that he can “power up” by creating a girlfriend, he does literally that and scientifically creates an “artificial” girlfriend named “No. Zero”. Torn between her programmed emotions and her growing feelings, No. Zero starts to waver. Is it “love” that buds between her and Akira, who is unaccustomed to communicating with others, or perhaps something else?
